What are they?
Cornets are Brass instruments similar to Trumpets.
They are distinguished by having a more "Conical bore" as well as a more compact shape and mellower tone quality.
There are two different types of Cornet:
B♭
(Most common and the majority of the cornet section use)
E♭
(Also known as Soprano - Smaller and more 'niche' cornet. There is generally only One soprano cornet in a band)

About Us
Based in North Buckinghamshire Great Horwood Silver Band, founded in 1888, is a dedicated, well established band with an extensive library and mostly Sovereign instruments.
The band can play for any event including fetes, weddings, private parties and other functions and have music for most occasions. We are constantly adding to our library and are happy to discuss specific requirements for an event, please contact us for more information.
The band are very much part of village life supporting events throughout the year and taking enormous pride in helping organisations to raise funds for many local and national Charities.
Annual Concert 2022
Thank you to everyone that joined the band for our first concert of 2022 on Saturday 12th March, we appreciate your support and hope that you enjoyed the program which featured the following soloists.

What We Offer
Free Tuition
We welcome all ages and abilities with free tuition and instruments being available
Training Band
We have a Training Band for members that are developing their playing in preparation for joining the Senior Band
Senior Band
Our established Senior Band plays a varied program at events throughout the year
Engagements
We rely on income from engagements to fund the bands expenses and donations to both local and national charities
Find Us
We rehearse in the Great Horwood Village Hall every Wednesday evening, please feel free to come and see us
Currently the Senior Band are rehearsing between 7.00pm and 9.00pm.
The Training Band re-start date and time is to be confirmed
Great Horwood is located just off the A421 approx. midway between Bletchley and Buckingham with Winslow (B4033) being 2 miles away
